Sustainable business practices

Here at Stepaside Dental, we know how important it is to do our bit for our environment and to adopt positive, green and sustainable business practices wherever possible.
We have kept this in mind from day 1 with our ‘Green Business Policy’. See some of our environmentally aware practices below:
  • Energy efficient lighting throughout with ‘lights off’ policy when rooms not in use.  We have also cleverly incorporated natural lighting throughout by using our glass frontage and adding internal windows into each room.  Our external signage is lit by low wattage LED, which uses considerably less power than traditional fluorescent bulbs do
  • ‘Power down at night’ – any of our equipment, PCs etc. are check listed for plug-out each night when the workday is over – if it can be plugged out, it is plugged out
  • Use of recycled and environmentally friendly stationery (paper products, ink cartridges etc.) wherever possible
  • Active recycling bins
  • Staff and customer cycle parking facilities.  Also actively support staff ‘Bike2Work’ scheme
  • Active ‘print only when necessary’ policy and use of GreenPrint software to eliminate wasted and unnecessary printing
  • ‘Go Digital’ approach for meetings (meeting minutes/agendas/support documentation) shared and viewed during meetings on laptop or tablet to eliminate wasteful paper printing
  • ‘No screensavers’ when practice computers/laptops etc. are not in use, they go into power off mode
  • Low power heating that is effective and highly efficient. ‘Heating Off’ policy when warmer weather allows
  • Our restrooms have been equipped with a toilet with ‘half flush’ option which only uses half the water of a traditional toilet
  • Our cleaning products are wherever possible, environmentally friendly.
  • Go Green – plenty of natural greenery with plants in our public areas helping to absorb airborne pollutants and emit healthy negative ions and oxygen into the air
This is just the start of our green journey. We intend to make many other changes, big and small, and embrace efficiencies and be pro-active wherever we can in our clinic as we move forward.
